Your Guide to the Different Editions of The Force Awakens DVD and Blu-ray

Get ready to feel the awakening all over again this week as Star Wars: The Force Awakens DVD (coming out on April 1) and Blu-ray (available on April 5) are released this week. You won’t have any struggles finding a copy of the all-time leader in theatre ticket sales. However, you might want to know about your different options and where to find them. With the Blu-ray editions (sorry digital copy owners) you will get tons of extra features like deleted scenes, director’s commentary, exclusive interview with the cast, and much more. Hopefully with all these special features we can get some more Luke Skywalker!

Amazon Video (online streaming version) is releasing “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” on April 1st — four full days before the Blu-ray is available. Order your digital copy to be among the first to own the newest episode of the “Star Wars” franchise. 

Exclusive content: 

  • An exclusive slipcase that collects all the individual character posters from the movie on the box art
  • 20 minutes of new special features that include interviews with actors Daisy Ridley and John Boyega.

You are currently able to pre-order the Blu-ray edition and digital edition of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. If you preorder the Blu-ray you will get a bonus DVD copy and digital copy as well.

Walmart 

With this copy from Wal-mart you will get all the extra bonus features in all the other copies. You will also get the DVD and digital copy. This edition appeals to the kids.

If you are not loving any of your cover options so far, don’t panic just yet. Best Buy has their own steelbook edition of The Force Awakens. This steelbook cover is graced by Kylo Ren and accompanied by Captain Phasma on the back. Comes with the DVD and digital copy.
